The proliferation of unauthorized streaming platforms—colloquially known as "Banflix sites" due to their frequent legal blocking—poses significant challenges to intellectual property rights, cybersecurity, and digital governance. This paper examines the operational models of these sites, the mechanisms used by authorities to block them, and the resultant "cat-and-mouse" dynamics. Through a socio-legal and technological lens, the paper argues that while domain blocking and ISP injunctions offer temporary relief, they fail to address the root causes of demand: content accessibility, pricing, and geographic licensing restrictions. The paper concludes by recommending a multi-stakeholder approach combining legal enforcement, consumer education, and legitimate market reform.
