Trainz Simulator 2009 〈2025〉

Released in late 2008 (with a "World Builder Edition" following in 2009), arrived at a critical time for train simulation. The genre was moving away from simple point-A-to-point-B driving. Players wanted tools—tools to build, customize, and share. TS2009 delivered exactly that, acting as a bridge between the older, simpler Trainz versions and the modern, content-rich simulators we have today.

It also marked the decline of the "classic" CD/DVD retail era. Later versions of TS2009 were distributed digitally, foreshadowing the future of the series on Steam and the Trainz Store. trainz simulator 2009
